Pres de la Foret Guest Book & Ratings

We provide a Visitors Book at Pres De La Foret so that our guests can comment on their holiday stay in our house.  The trouble is the book is visible only at the house, so all the tips, suggestions for holiday activities, restaurant recommendations, and most importantly, the praise (or criticism) of the house and its facilities is only available to guests while they are actually there.

So we decided to put our visitors’ book online, here on the Foret Blog, so that anyone who has been a guest at our house can leave an honest review, a glowing tribute, or even a critical appraisal, together with a star rating from 1 to 5, just like the product reviews on the big e-commerce sites.

If you haven’t used one of these rating systems before, 5 stars is excellent, 4 means good, 3 means averagely OK, 2 means poor, and (we hope we never see it) 1 would mean very poor.

If you have been a guest at Pres De La Foret, this year, or at some time in the past, please do take the time to rate, and comment on, your holiday at our gite, using the Guest Book comment box below.

To protect this site from any unauthorised or malicious users there may be some delay before publication, while your Guest Book comment is verified.  Please don’t let this put you off! We would love to hear from you!

  1. In response to Mr Goodwins lovely comments. We would like it to be known that the electrics have now been upgraded in the Gite, and the power increased so there should be no further problems with using more than one appliance in the future. :-) :-)

  2. This charming detached house is a short walk from the centre of Huby St Leu and about 15 minute walk from the historic town of Hesdin. The house has 3 good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds. The lounge/dining room has plenty of comfortable seating and large circular table to dine at. There is a TV that receives both French and BBC other Sky channels, which makes it a home from home. The bathroom has the usual toilet and sink, but no bath. However, the shower cabinet is very good. The kitchen, whilst of moderate size, has plenty of storage cupboards, a good cooker with an extractor hood and a fridge. A welcome pack which included milk was in the kitchen on our arrival. There is a veranda which looks out over the large south facing back garden which makes it a wonderful place to eat when the sun shines, with outdoor table and chairs. The garden has plenty of room for children to play games, with a large tree to provide shade at the bottom of the garden. To the front of the house there is a good sized drive which will accommodate 3/4 cars with some grass to the side of it the whole enclosed by a hedge & with a gate which shuts the whole property off, making it safe for children. All in all, this is a really good place to spend a family holiday in northern France. Comfortable and well furnished. The coast is half hours drive away, but not so far that a day trip to this is out of the question. Le Touquet is nearest with beautiful sandy beaches. Arras has a great deal of beautiful historic buildings, about an hours drive away. We have happy memories of staying at Pres De La Foret and hope to return some day.

  3. The Gite is situated in a lovely quiet and peaceful village and is very comfortable. Lovely and clean with a beautiful garden for the children (and adults) to enjoy playing in . We found the Gite to be clean and particularly enjoyed sitting out on the balcony with a glass of wine, very relaxing. There are some lovely patisseries nearby for tempting treats!

Been to this area for the past 6 years but this is first time at this gite, and what a gem. Clean, comfortable and great location. Spent many a fine hour on the balcony in sun sipping wine from the supermarket while watching birds in the garden. Hope to be back next year.

1st week, weather not so good, but 2nd week weather improved. Lovely clean welcoming Gite. Bakery was handy and seemed to be open all hours. Thursday market was excellent, and loads of places to visit. Will be back!

  6. Had a wonderful time, great location. Woodpeckers, owls and a friendly cat for friends. Locals friendly too!

Had a great week staying at your lovely Gite. Two excellent days out at the Water Park in Le Touquet, and the Bagatelle Theme Park. Enjoyed eating croissants on the balcony every day

Lovely clean Gite, and lovely balcony and garden. Visited Le Touquet Wateer Park, and the chocolate factory. Really good baguettes and croissants from the local bakers. Really enjoyed our time.

  9. Had a lovely week at this beautiful gite. Very well stocked with everything you would need – a real home from home, feel 😉 spent most evenings on the balcony with a glass of wine – only the birds were making any noise – perfect …….
Situated perfectly for many places to visit:-
Berck – has the most stunning beach, a real must…..
Went to Hesdin and bought some beautiful items from the local shops….
Abbeville – is amazing – another great day out.
If you have the weather go into Montreuil – stunning castle to wander around, with WW1 connections.
Etaples, WW1 war cemetery very moving but also stunning for different reasons

  10. We have just returned from a lovely relaxing week at this lovely Gite. The accommodation was the perfect size for us, a family of 4; everything was spotless when we arrived and there was no excuse not to keep it clean as all sorts of cleaning products were available for use.
The area was perfect for exploring Northern France – we visited Boulogne-Sur-Mer; Lens and Lille all easily done in a day. Azincourt was just a short drive away as well. Hesdin was about a 15 minute walk away, a bit longer coming back to allow for the hill.
    Would definitely recommend.

  11. really nice place to have as a base for exploring the area
Garden and balcony a real bonus
    recommend to stay here
    Unsworth family

  12. We stayed at your lovely house last September for a week with our two year old and dog. Had the most relaxing week ever! The house is so comfortable, clean and well equipped and the huge garden a massive bonus. Our little girl loved the trampoline and having so much space to run around. We visited various beach resorts most days, about 45 minutes away, lovely wide sandy beaches. Hesdin is about ten minutes walk with restaurants, shops and a children’s playground and the bakery is a few minutes walk.

Would highly recommend the house and this region of France.

  13. Comfortable, well appointed Gite with all the facilities needed (even a pizza baking tray) which was very clean and tidy on arrival – even the fire was laid and ready to light. A plentiful supply of logs, and even charcoal and lighters for the barbecue, shows the thought that has gone into providing a quality holiday home for visitors and how well it is maintained. The electric heating worked well (important in a cold and rainy week in Spring), and the english language TV and the wi-fi were welcome modern touches. The beds were particularly comfortable, but beware the shower – on full it is so powerful it hurts! The gardens are pleasant and well maintained, and the balcony was used for breakfast and a nightcap every day…
The location is excellent; on the edge of a quite village, a 10 minute walk takes you to the forest with some stunning walks, whilst the town of Hesdin is a 20 minute walk away (although 30 minutes back thanks to the hill).
We would certainly use the Gite again….

  14. 27th May 17 for the half term week.
We have just spent another lovely week at this Gite. This time with one of our Grandchildren (Ethan), had to bring him along to see the Gite and surrounding places of interest that we enjoyed last year.
We visited many of the places we saw ourselves last year, and had superb weather again, we also went to Disneyland this time, well worth the drive, rekindling the inner child ☺
A little home from home the Gite is, Ethan loved it, we all enjoyed many evening bbq’s during our week as well as breakfast on the balcony, he found that most enjoyable, listening to & spotting birds. He even saw a red squirrel in the garden.
    Wandered through the Hesdin forest.
Ethan loved the beach at Berck – we had told him about it many times.
