2017 has arrived and we are looking forward to our new season, we currently have 4 weeks booked out and several enquiries pending. Hesdin is a wonderful place to come and explore northern France.
Visit the Saint-Riquier festival, which is a big music festival in the Sommne in July 2017, also European Heritage day which takes place in September 2017, throughout France, or a little closer to home how about Carnival de Hesdin in March, or how about trying some cookery lessons held at Fils du Temps Wed/Sat.
There is a wonderful music concert in the main square on June 23rd, and on July there is the Fete National a fabulous Brocante in Montreuil.
We are so looking forward to the warm sunny weather, enjoying the French way of life, come and join us.
Its the wonderful Brocante season again. If your looking for the quirky Nic knack , the really smart chest of drawers, a beautiful Chandelier, china, garden paraphernalia or just some great nifty Bric-a-Brac, then this is where you need to be.
For more info, visit the tourist office in Hesdin, for all the dates, where and when don’t miss it.
For 4 days Calais will be hosting an extravaganza of magical creatures, including a fire breathing horse-dragon and giant spider. Be afraid be very afraid. Parades are during the day and night and the best thing about it its FREE.
You will not be disappointed, its the hottest show around.
A wonderful place visited recently where they had a wine festival on over a few days. Les Caves Du Vieux Chai. Fine wines, champagne , some strong but fantastic rums and whiskey’s. Well worth a visit, YOU WILL come away with something. There is no pressure to buy, but the selection is undeniably fabulous .
In a beautiful little backwater, a little gem we found. A goats farm, with it seemed 100’s of goats running around. Great for the kids to pet and feed. Fantastic owners who then get all the kids young and old involved in making some of their own beautiful bread, cooked in the family own bread oven whilst you are visiting and also, goats cheese in all shapes and flavours to buy.
Have just visited again on Friday 1st, viewed the goats and picked up some wonderfully fresh fromage de chèvre with red pepper corns – stunning, whilst there we also purchased some lovely bread made whilst our son pet, fed and held a new baby goat, and then helped to milk the main flock which is done twice a day!

Tucked away, but definitely worth a trip the chocolate factory at Beussant. Take a look at the website www.choco-france.com
Downstairs by the side of an unassuming bungalow is a wonderful chocolate shop, and then down into the basement where the most amazing aroma greets you. All the chocolates are freshly hand made, and you will definitely want to take some home.
Its about 75 euros for a personal tour, but if you join a group, its a lot less expensive, and you get some to taste as well
There are some wonderful Brocantes coming up in and around Hesdin in the next few weeks..
In August around 8/9/10th is the Hesdin Brocante, anyone who loves a bargain should visit this wonderful French country town. It has a wonderful atmosphere, and there are always plenty of bargains to be had. The Canache river runs through the town, with its beautiful houses, with bountiful hanging flower baskets and as always, bars, restaurants, boulangeries, a plenty.
Enjoy a coffee and croissant at the many cafes, people watch, meet friends and chat.
Les Miserables is showing in Montreuil, from 31/07/2015, a must see, also worth a visit are the ramparts of Monteuil, and the most divine chocolates. Chocolate de Beussent is just 10 km north of Montreal on the D127.
